Binghamton Student Housing Transportation: Planning with OCCT

A practical transportation checklist for comparing Binghamton off-campus rentals, OCCT, Broome County Transit, parking and class schedules.

Plan the journey you will actually make

Start with the campus buildings and arrival times you expect to use, then check the trip from the specific rental address. A route that works for a midday class may not work for an early shift or late evening return. Include time to reach a stop, wait and transfer rather than comparing only driving estimates.

Check official OCCT and BC Transit information

Binghamton University’s transportation page links to OCCT and Broome County Transit resources. It currently describes access for students, faculty and staff using a valid Binghamton University ID. Confirm current eligibility, schedules and service notices with the operator before traveling.

Use the official route information to locate the relevant stops in both directions. Check weekday, weekend and academic-break schedules separately, and note the last return service. Save the operator’s service-alert page so you can check it before leaving.

Compare housing and transportation together

For each home on your shortlist, record the route, stop locations, transfers, first and last useful departures and a backup plan. Try the trip before signing if possible. Ask about snow-season access and the path between the home and stop without assuming a neighborhood name guarantees convenient service.

Our listings describe driveway parking at 11 Walnut Street and off-street parking at 33 St. John Avenue. Confirm the number of vehicles your group may bring and any parking arrangements with Jake. A parking space at home does not establish permission to park on campus.

Questions to bring to a tour

Ask where residents enter and leave the property, how bicycles can be stored, how parking is allocated and which routes you should verify independently. We do not publish a nearest-stop claim or a fixed commute time for these homes because those details have not been verified.

Compare your transportation notes with the property layout, rent and lease dates. If you cannot visit in person, request a virtual tour or video walkthrough and check the official maps yourself before deciding.
